The second work measures 14.5 by 17.25 inches and is framed uniformly with the Dunloe scene. Bosanquet was a photographer and watercolourist active in Cork in the mid nineteenth century. His works tend to be full of incident and anecdote and - whilst the product of a self-taught hand - were of sufficient merit to be hung from time to time at the Royal Hibernian Academy. His son, J. Claude Bosanquet, also painted landscapes. Creagh Castle, Doneraile was built in 1816 by G.W. Brasier-Creagh on the site of an earlier house, known as Castle Saffron, destroyed by fire in c.1750.
