Of his animal studies, Roberts-Jones comments; "perhaps I should mention the drawings that I do in the Zoo - of birds and cats mostly. These are by way of relaxation - but I did at one time do several cat studies in sculpture. I think I may well doing something of the sort again - but at the moment these are pure enjoyment for me" (exhibition catalogue, Cardiff, National Museum of Wales, Welsh Committee of the Arts Council, Welsh Drawings 1963, p. 13).
