Notes

As the Principal of Goldsmiths College, Clive Gardiner provided Roberts-Jones with the support of a part-time teaching post at the colleage in 1946, and by 1964 Roberts-Jones was Head of Sculpture until his retirement in 1978. Peter Cannon-Brookes remarks that "Ivor Roberts-Jones' first important head, exhibted at the time, was of Clive Gardiner" (Ivor Roberts-Jones, London, 1983, p. 33).
Bronze casts of this work are held in the Collections of the Arts Council of Great Britain, Beaverbrook Foundation, and University of London, Goldsmiths College.
