Ada K Longfield, "More About Samuel Dixon and his Imitators" Quarterly Bulletin of the Irish Georgian Society, vol XXIII, no. 1 (Jan 1980), fig. 22, with the Indian Icterus. Said to form part of the so-called third Spackman set (circa 1764-1771).

Notes

From George Edwards' Natural History of Uncommon Birds, vol. IV (1752), nos. 176 and 159 respectively (1) the colouring is exactly the same as 'West Indian long-tailed parakeet with apple (sic.) from Spackman's 1764 set. cf. A K Longfield: "To Paint a Mockingbird" Country Life, 25th January 1979, pp196-7, fig 4. (2) cf. Dixon's yellow macaw from the 1755 series (the example in this collection coloured red rather than yellow). (2)
