Indau's treatise was first published in Vienna in 1686, and it is apparently the first architectural pattern-book to be produced by a Viennese practitioner. As well as diagrams of the classical orders, the plates contain images of a palace facade, a church facade and an altarpiece. Some of the plates have captions in both German and Italian; the text was also published in Italian in 1686.
