Notes

These two wood groups are modeled after the Muses adorning the base of the Mount Parnassus monument in the gardens of Veitshöchheim, created by the Rococo sculptor Ferdinand Tietz (1708-1777). Euterpe is presented in the form of a standing flutist (whose flute is missing), while Melpomene sits and sings from a music manuscript. Mirroring this construction, Urania stands behind Clio who holds a tablet inscribed with numerals.
