Description

oil on canvas Gianni Papi was the first to propose an attribution for the present painting to Imperiale Grammatica, the son of Antiveduto (see G. Papi, ``L'arte per i papi e per i principi nella campagna romana. Grande pittura del '600 e '700," review of the exhibition in Paragone 485, 1990, p. 77.) Imperiale was a member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. A signed work, dated 1624, The Liberation of St. Peter, is in San Salvatore in Lauro, Rome.
