Description

Late Meiji/Taisho Period
A pair of six-fold screens, painted in ink, gofun and slight colour on paper, one screen decorated with a crane about to alight onto young pine saplings; the other painted with two large gnarled pine trunks arranged diagonally across the screen, both signed Kashu ga with seal Kashu. Each screen 170.5cm x 376cm (67 1/8in x 148in). (2).

Born in Kansai in Meiji 13 (1880), Iguchi Kashu was a Shijo School painter and studied under Takeuchi Seiho. The artist received a prize for his work at the fifth Domestic Industrial Exposition in 1903.
