IGNACE JOSEPH DE CLAUSSIN (1766-1844) AFTER REMBRANDT VAN RIJN (1606-1669), DUTCHAFTER REMBRANDT’S SELF-PORTRAIT WITH PLUMED CAP AND LOWERED SABRE, 1634 [WHITE & BOON, 23:III/III ]Etching with engraving on laid paper after the original of 1634, this copy from the early 19th Century appears to be laid down on a fine semi-transparent wove paper of a later date; signed and dated 1634 in the plate lower right. The third and final state (of three) after the plate had been reduced to an oval. Matted and unframed.Plate/Sheet, trimmed to or just outside platemark 5.1" x 4.1" — 12.9 x 10.5 cm.; 5.1" x 4" — 13 x 10.1 cm.Provenance:Ex. Coll. John M.
