Notes

Related to a tapestry cartoon commissioned by King Louis XV for the Manufacture des Gobelins, and currently at the Museum of Grenoble (G. Chomer, Peintures francaises avant 1815: La collection du Musée de Grenoble, Paris, 2000, no. 22). This painting was exhibited at the 1740 Salon, the catalogue for which indicates that the tapestry was never realised and that the cartoon remained at the Gobelins until 1794. In 1740, Collin de Vermont was appointed professeur at the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture.
