[xvi], 583 pp. Stipple-engraved frontispiece, engraved title, 15 plates and folding maps. 4to (280 x 215 mm). Later half sheep, spine gilt. Foxing and light offsetting around plates, title and one plate with imprint cropped, one map with neatline shaved, binding rubbed with chip at spine edge.

First edition. Includes one of the earliest views of Sydney, after a sketch by Hunter dated 1788, and a plate of a New South Wales family engraved by William Blake. Ferguson 152; Hill 857.
