Costume Design for Anthony Tudor as Neptune in The Planets, c. 1934
Unsigned, inscribed "Neptune/Anthony" u.r. and "green tale [sic]/scales on
tunic" u.l., identified in a pencil inscription on the reverse.
Pencil and watercolor on paper, 8 7/8 x 6 3/16 in. (22.5 x 15.5 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Toning, soiling to edges, handling creases, tape stains from old hinges at top of reverse.

N.B. This design was created for The Planets, choreographed by Anthony Tudor and produced by the Ballet Club of London, 1934, based on the orchestral suite by Gustav Holst. The choreographer himself danced the role of Neptune.
