Hubert Landa was primarily a painter of landscapes and views. He trained as a lithographer between 1881 and 1891, studied under Christian Griepenkerl at the Academy of Fine Art from 1894 to 1900 and under Franz von Matsch at the Vienna College of Arts and Crafts between 1900 and 1902. From 1902 he became assistant at the Graphic Teaching and Research Institute in Vienna, in 1908 he became a teacher and in 1912 a Professor.
