Archetypa studiaque Patris Georgio Hoefnaglii comprising four sets of twelve engravings, each set with its own title, lacking the last four plates from part IV, (plates 45-48), good impressions from the rare first edition, with excudebat Hoef: on the title page of part II, excud. Hoef: on the title page of part III and the date 1592 on the title page of part IV, publisehd in Frankfurt am Main, 1592, watermark High Crown, some wear, minor surface dirt, spotting and defects at the sheet edges, otherwise in generally good condition, plates 45-48 with minor paper losses at the sheet edges, in brown morocco with gilt spider design by Lisa Vershbow. Plates: 6 x 8 in. (152 x 210 mm.) Sheets: 11 x 13 in. (280 x 350 mm.) Provenance: Aquired from Wallach, 1954
