NOTE

Originally from Bohemia, the composer and violinist Anton Wilhelm Solnitz (or Solniz) spent the majority of his working life in the Netherlands, studying at Leiden University and performing in the pleasure gardens of The Hague and other cities throughout the Netherlands. The musical score featured in the present work is one of the two sets of six sonatas that Solnitz published. The painting was engraved by P. Tanjé bearing the legend: 'H. van der My pinx. 1743'.
