HERMANN TUNICA, GERMAN, 1826-1907 A SET OF FIVE HORSE PAINTINGS: LADY HERON, BIAS, DRYMORE, THE QUEEN UND YOUNG DON JUAN each 52 by 65cm (5) A set of five, three paintings signed and dated '46, one signed with the monogram H.T. and dated '45, all of them inscribed on the reverse All oil on canvas, one unframed Condition Note: Lady Heron: scattered surface stains, small tear 1 cm long over the tail, a stripe of canvas added to the lower edge of the canvas; Bias: craquelure throughout the canvas, especially in the area of the legs and head of the horse, would benefit from cleaning; Drymore: hook to the canvas lower left in front of the hooves, scratch lower right and a tear 3cm long with paint loss at the tail, craquelure throughout, would benefit from cleaning; Queen: small tear 3cm long with paint loss in the back leg of the horse, minor specks of paint loss lower left; Young Don Juan: craquelure throughout, would benefit from cleaning, three holes in lower right corner. Inscriptions on the reverse: Lady Heron nat. engl. geb. 1825, Leibreitpferd Sr. Hoheit ( favorite horse of his Majesty); Bias, v. Picton a. d.
