Lot 59: Herman van Swanevelt (Woerden c. 1600-1655 Paris)

Dr. Anne Charlotte Steland dates the present lot to Van Swanevelt's Parisian years; circa 1653-4. She points out that both the composition and the depiction of different components show a strong affinity with a landscape by the artist dated 1654 (formerly with R. Valls, London) and the pair of signed pictures of 1654 in the Louvre, Paris.
