* HERBERT BANNISTER WHONE (Scottish b 1925 - ) Tenements in Yellow Sunlight, Govan Road, oil on canvas, dated '62 69cm x 92cm Note : Herbert Whone, violinist, teacher, author and artist. whilst deputy leader of the Scottish National Orchestra (1956 - 1964) Whone produced a series of paintings which captured a moment in the history of Glasgow and the Clyde that few others did - of crumbling tenement buildings, decaying ship yards and the famous Glasgow trams that lurched through the smoke-filled city.
