Signed, dated, and inscribed indistinctly "Henri Pieron/1874..." l.r.
Oil on canvas, 19 1/2 x 13 1/4 in. (49.0 x 33.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Scattered pinhole-sized punctures and small abrasions with paint losses, discolored varnish, surface grime.

Provenance: Neumeister Kunstauktionen: Wednesday, December 1, 2004, Lot 691, auktion 326, through to a Massachusetts estate.

Condition Report

Scattered small abrasions and paint losses. Pin-hole size punctures in the foreground water (5 or 6) and in the upper half of the composition (8-10) that are visible only when you hold the canvas up to a strong light source. Abrasion and canvas deformation l.l. corner. Small abrasion measuring 3/16 in. with loss of paint surface down to canvas in lower center. A cluster of small punctures/losses in the sky, u.c. the largest measuring 1/16 inch, clustered in an area about 3/4 inches square. Small area of canvas deformation at c.r. edge. Discolored varnish and surface grime. Stable craquelure.
