Description

Frederick VI (1768-1839), King of Denmark 1808-1839, facing right in red General's uniform with blue facings and collar, silver epaulettes, wearing the blue moir‚ sash and breast star of the Royal Danish Order of the Elephant and the cross of the Royal Danish Order of the Men of Dannebrog oval, 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.) high, gilt-metal mount NOTES Frederick, son of the ill-fated Princess Caroline Matilda and the crazy King Christian VII of Denmark, was regent of Denmark from 1784 and King from 1808. During his reign, Copenhagen was bombarded by the British naval force (1807) and lost Norway to Sweden (1814). Other miniatures depicting King Frederick VI are illustrated in T.
