HEIDELOFF Nicolaus Innocentius Wilhelm Clemens van (1761 Stuttgart - 2.3. 1837 The Hague) Missive at the court Copper plate engraving on paper, 230 x 325 mm, framed, glazed, dated 1782, signed in the plate lower right and lower left. German engraver, pupil of Johann Gotthardt v. Muller. He went on a study stay to Paris where he worked under the guidance of Ch. Cl. Bervice as a miniature painter. After the outbreak of the revolution he went to London where he worked for ""Gallery of Fashion"". He produced copper plate engravings and hand-coloured aquatints. In 1815 the Dutch king Wilhelm appointed him Keeper of the print collections in Mauritshuise and the Haague. See TB 16/258, B 5/462, N 6/405.
