Description

Ink and color on paper. Japan, 1st half 20th centuryAn appealing painting with a man resting on a red blanket takes place on a flat cliff in a steep mountainous landscape. He is clad in a Chinese attire in the style of the old "literati". The man is painted in a restful moment and obviously enjoying the murmuring creek and a lovely cup of tea. Very amusing detail - he has taken along a modern tea cozy. The high trees and details very spirited in style. Kanetsu was also active as an author. He thoroughly studied the Chinese culture and became member of the imperial academy of arts. With inscription and signature to the upper left KANSETSU JINJIN 関雪陣人 , and red seal KANSETSU 関雪, and seal to the lower right.
