Description

HARRY J. SUNTER (American, 1850-) LOW TIDE AT THE TOWN DOCK. Oil on canvas scene shows a sailboat at low tide facing several buildings, one with painted sign "Fish Market", "Orders for Ice" and "Junk Store Next Door". This is written on the back of a two and a-half story building with two other large buildings beside. A church steeple can be seen on small hill behind. All under a cloud and blue sky. Possibly a scene from Lubec, Maine where sardine business was and is a continuing fishery. Housed in its original gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 13" x 6". CONDITION: Three areas of canvas loss, in need of repair, some light scratches. Generally good. 9-94311 (1,750-2,250)
