Notes

This romantic depiction of Ullswater by moonlight reflects a significant artistic mood of the late 18th Century - the longing to discover wilderness. For many artists, that wilderness was found in the Lake District in the North of England. Artists like J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) and Thomas Girtin (1775-1802) made tours of the Lake District painting Romantic landscapes.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
