Notes

Harold Steggles was a partner in a firm of solicitors and studied art at the Bow and Bromley Evening Institute where the teachers included John Cooper, William Coldstream and Rodrigo Moynihan. Steggles received regular commissions to paint houses and shops in London and the country, and exhibited with the East London Group at the Lefevre Gallery, Agnew's, Arthur Tooth's and Manchester City Art Gallery. In 1938 he shared an exhibition with his brother, Walter James Steggles, at Lefevre.
