Harold H. Piffard (British, fl. 1895-1899) "Dawn", oil on canvas, signed lower right "Piffard", retains old exhibition entry paper label en verso "No. 1 Royal Academy 1917, Dawn, Piffard", 36" x 22". Presented in a period carved giltwood and plaster frame in the Louis XV style, the corners with relief-carved scallop shells mantled by foliate scrolls, the rails centered with addorsed floral sprays surmounted by facing foliate scrolls.
