HARITONOFF Nicholas B. (1880 - 1944 New York) Portrait of a woman in a turquoise dress Oil on canvas, 76 x 63 cm, framed, dated 1936, signed lower right, with an expertise on the painting technique. Russian painter, he is known for his landscapes, portraits, historical and genre scenes. He studied at the Imperial Academy in Russia and at the Academy of Arts in Munich. In his paintings he combined realist and impressionist features. During World War I he painted portraits of army officers. In 1920 he immigrated to America where he created chiefly realist portraits.
