Description

A 19th Century Hand Colored Aquatint by H. Merke. After Samuel Howitt's drawings (British, 1755-1822) after Captain Thomas Williamson (1790-1815, titled in English and French, "The Common Wolf Trap". Plate done by H. Merke, No. XXXIII, published in London by T. McLean, Jan. 1819. Slight rippling, some fading. Image is double-sided, with page of text from Captain Thomas Williamson's "Oriental Field Sports" corresponding to the image verso. Image is 17 1/4 x 12" high, in an antique maple frame with some wear, 27 1/2 x 22 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $100-200

Conditions of Sale:

ALL Absentee, Phone or Internet bidders must complete and return our Bidder's Authorization form prior to bidding on any item. Intending purchasers will provide their names and addresses and credit card information prior to the auction. Payments on accounts are to be made within 5 days of the auction, default on any of these conditions will result in the items being resold at the auctioneer's earliest convenience. There will be an twenty eight percent (28%) buyer's premium added to the final hammer price on all lots, to be paid by the purchaser. We accept Personal Checks (10 days to clear), Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express), Cash or Wire Transfer for Domestic purchases. Overseas purchases, Jewelry and Precious Metal purchases, as well as purchases over $10,000 may be paid by Bank Wire Transfer only.

Schmidt's Antiques Inc, the Auctioneer, will not be held responsible for the correctness of the description, the authenticity, genuineness, or any defect concerning any lot, and makes no warranty whatsoever, and instead will sell each lot exactly as-is, without recourse.

All bids are to be per item as numbered in the catalog. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid. The highest bidder as determined by the Auctioneer will be the buyer. The Auctioneer shall determine the highest bidder at his sole discretion and will have complete authority to decide any and all disputed bids, his decision shall be final. Estimates are provided on items as a basis for comparison only. A small percentage of the items offered may have a reserve price. In no case will an item have a reserve price in excess of the low estimate.

Minimum starting bid on all lots will be 50% of the low estimate. All purchases are to be removed at the buyer's expense and risk within 30 days of the conclusion of the auction. Arrangement for shipping, pick up or transfer of all auction items will be made by the buyer and at the buyer's expense. All purchases will be paid for in full prior to any one or all of the purchases leaving the premises. Title shall pass at the fall of the hammer and Schmidt's Antiques Inc, the Auctioneer will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any item whatsoever and items are left at the sole risk of the purchaser. Items left beyond 30 days will be subject to storage charges.

If accounts are not paid in full within 5 days, or in the case of absentee bidders, upon presentation of a bill, any and all deposits left on said items will be forfeited by the purchaser. Schmidt's Antiques Inc. reserves the right to sell unpaid items either by private or public sale, at our discretion, without any further notice to the defaulter. The defaulter will be responsible for any such deficiency that may arise, plus any expenses incurred in reselling any defaulted upon items.

Schmidt's Antiques Inc. makes no additional charge for execution orders for our clients, and uses all absentee bids competitively.
