Item Overview

Description

GUGLIELMI, O. LOUIS (American, b. 1906-d. 1956) Still life with fruit.
Oil on canvas, signed lower right. Framed. 30 x 36"

Provenance: Acquired from the family of the artist.

There are few direct comparables of this size, date and subject which have been offered at auction. Compare still life 20 x 16" offered at Christie's, New York May 20, 2009, lot 116 for $20,000 - 30,000, unsold. Compare also a seascape/still life 20 x 24" sold at Sotheby's New York, November 29, 2006, lot 44 for $25,000 - 35,000, sold for $30,000. While this example is larger, the condition is a major factor in determining value particulary, the highly visible lifting of pigments on the painting's surface.

Note: Appears to be lined, surface lifting to paint.
