Notes

Igor Gubsky can be called “out of mainstream” artist or representative of the “old-school”. Most of the artist’s artworks are portraits. Somehow paradoxically, to this genre Igor Gubskiy remains devoted even nowadays. At the same time, the style of his artworks continues the traditions of the psychological portrait of the “old-school” or classical, pre-avant-garde art. Igor Gubskiy is the son of the artist Ivan Gubsky. Igor studied in Lugansk State Art School, in Kiev State Art Institute led by V.G. Puzyrkov, in Academy of Arts led by professor S.A. Grigoriev. Now lives in Kiev. Igor Gubskiy is one of the few artists noted by the Tretyakov Art Gallery, as a bright representative of the Ukrainian school in XX century together with Tatyana Yablonskaya and Andriy Kotska. The artist’s artworks are stored in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in Tretyakov Art Gallery (Moscow, Russia), in Kunstmuseum (Malmö, Sweden), in Summy Art Museum, in Luhansk Art Museum and private collections in Ukraine, England, Israel, Canada, USA, Sweden. 1969-1973 studies in Voroshilovgrad (Lugansk) art school. Received the diploma of teacher of drawing and painting in high school. 1973-1979 from Kiev state art Institute (now – national Academy of fine arts and architecture), faculty of painting, workshop of Victor Bubble. Since 1974, with the first courses in Kiev state art Institute, participates in a group, city, Republican and all-Union art exhibitions since the mid-1980s and in the international art expositions. 1979 -1980 he was in the army. 1981-1984 – postgraduate studies in creative workshops with Professor Sergey Grigoriev. Since 1983 – member of the artists Union of the USSR (now – the national Union of artists of Ukraine). 1990– participation in auction "Cristie's", "Philips". All presented works were sold. 2004– expelled from membership of the Union, deprived of the creative workshop.
