Notes

Graham Crowley's work represents a vast variance in style, refusing to be limited by any single identity. He is best known for the luminous graphic style of the present painting which is a dramatic revitalisation of the landscape tradition in Western art.

Crowley was born in Romford and studied at St Martin's School of Art from 1968-72 and the Royal College of Art from 1972-75. He has exhibited at the John Moores exhibitions at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, on several occasions and was a prize winner in 1987 and 2006. He was also awarded the ING Purchase Prize at The Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London, in 2004. Selected solo exhibitions include those in London at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Royal College of Art and Beaux Arts and his work is held in public collections such as those of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Arts Council of Great Britain. Crowley has also held significant teaching posts, most recently as Professor of Painting at the Royal College of Art from 1998-2006.
