Condition Report

There are no rips or repairs to the canvas. However, there is a lot of excess canvas that has been folded around the stretcher on the back at the top and bottom. There are 9 inches of extra canvas along the bottom edge that is painted with the continuation of the floor boards from the front. The extra canvas at the top measures 5 1/2 inches and is just primed and does not continue the designs from the front.

Under UV light no retouch is apparent. There is a "rim" of brighter blue pigment along the outside edge of the hair of the girl, but it appears to be original to the composition. There is also some discolored varnish more apparent in the background between the faces of the two children.
