Notes

Although this drawing was previously attributed to Giuseppe Galli-Bibiena, that attribution can no longer be sustained. There is an old attribution to Domenico Fossati on the verso, but that too is unconvincing. The drawing is, however, very similar to one in the Oenslager collection, which is attributed to Giovanni Maria I Quaglio.υ1 Quaglio was a follower of Bibiena who worked, together with other members of his family, in Vienna and Munich, making theater designs. 1.
