Giovanni Battista Lusieri, called Titta Lusieri (Rome 1754-1821 Athens) Panoramic view of Rome from Piazza San Pietro in Montorio on the Janiculum: From the Capitoline Hill to the Aventine Hill, with Trastevere in the foreground, the gardens of the convent of San Callisto and San Michele pencil, pen and brown ink and watercolour 21¾ x 38½ in. (55.2 x 97.8 cm.)

Provenance

Commissioned by Philip Yorke, later 3rd Earl of Hardwicke (1757-1834), probably in 1778-9. The Earl of Hardwicke, Wimpole Hall, and thence by descent.
