Georgie Read Barton (Canadian/American, 1902-1994) "Winter at the Syrup House", oil on canvas, signed lower right "Georgie Read Barton", 16" x 20". Presented in the original carved, polychromed and gilded wooden frame with linen liner. Provenance: Private estate, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Reference: "Who's Who in American Art; The World Who's Who of Women;" and "The Dictionary of International Biographies. Barton, a Prince Edward Island artist, studied at New York City's Art Students League and was one of the first women admitted to the prestigious Salmagundi Club.
