Description

Georges-Henri Prud'homme (French, 1873-1947) "Veuves des Marins", 1919, a bronze art medal of unusual Tau Cross form, the obverse with a grief-stricken woman on a seaside cliff observing a foundering ship in the distance, the reverse with a cortege of women in widow's weeds proceeding to a church, marked on the lower edge "Bronze" and with the French cornucopia mint-mark in use after 1880, h. 3", w. 2-3/4".
