Born in Lagos, George Osodi lives and works between London and Nigeria. At the Border is part of Osodi's Oil Rich Niger Delta series, which documents the effects of oil and its extraction on residents of the Niger Delta. Osodi's previous experience as a photographer for the Associated Press lends a photojournalistic edge to his work as he carefully records daily life in the Delta with a critical eye. "It is amazing how people carry on with their lives, with their daily routines with a smile against all odds. I want to put a human face on this paradise lost, as I do not wish to offend, but to draw the viewer near my images in order to provoke a feeling and be inspired or trigger a deep sense of change within the observer."

Images from the Oil Rich Niger Delta series have been exhibited extensively worldwide, including at documenta XXII in 2007.
