According to J. Hall Pleasants ("Four Late 18th Century Anglo-American Landscape Painters", Proceedings, American Antiquarian Society, reprint, October, 1943, p.15) this view was executed during Beck's Baltimore period. Georgetown and City of Washington is the original for the aquatint, George-Town and Federal City, or City of Washington, published on June 1, 1801, as well as the original design for decoration on Staffordshire china.
