Condition Report

Oil on canvas. The canvas is distorted in the lower right corner and also exhibits mild localized undulating distortions in the center and lower quadrants. The paint film is in poor condition. There are several large flake losses and extensive active flaking and paint cleavage in the lower half of the painting and along the upper right edge. There is an area of paint blanching in the lower right corner and directly above this an area of crude retouching. The cause of the severe paint flaking/instability is unknown. Possible causes are water damage or inherent vice.
