Gay, Claudio. Collection of hand-colored engravings from Historia de Chile - botanical volume. 43 hand-colored engraved plates. 14¼x10¾. [1854] Claudio Gay (1800-1873) was a French naturalist. He was commissioned by the Chilean government to perform a scientific survey of the country around 1830. The collection of engravings here are a result of his meticulous study. Some foxing to a small number of plates, mostly at margins; handful of plates have at least one chipped corner, yellowing, or foxing; else very good or better.
