Notes

Since the mid 1980s, Miller has produced images using camera-less photography, a technique also used by his contemporary Susan Derges. Both artists, along with Adam Fuss, have been selected for a major survey on camera-less photography at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, entitled Shadow Catchers (October 2010 - February 2011). Referencing the cycle of life, Miller's circular images are created in the darkroom by shining light through coloured glass and over cut-paper shapes to create shadows that are recorded directly onto light sensitive paper. His works reference the earliest pioneers of photography who shone light through objects or natural filters onto photo-sensitive paper. Miller has had several solo exhibitions, including at the Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh, and the Cleveland Museum of Arts, Cleveland.
