Trentanove was a pupil of Augusto Rivalta at the Fine Art Academy of Florence. Two of his sculptures, Villani and Serristori, are permanently exhibited at the Logge Del Mercato Nuovo, in Florence. Exhibiting in the main Italian Salons, he was also active in America, leaving to the city of Washington a monument of Daniel Webster in 1900 and of General Albert Pinke in 1901. The charming sitter in the present lot is entitled Tasso, which is derived from the Latin word meaning to contemplate or decide.
