Description

[Frères GHÉMAR] Ephemera photographique : 2 documents. [Bruxelles Typ. de A. Fischlin septembre 1862] Rares documents canularesques publiés le 27 sept. 1862 à l'occasion des "Fêtes de septembre de l'an VI de la photographie" et de la fête d'inauguration du "Bocal photographique et aérostatique" des Ghémar, 45 chaussée de Charleroi à Bruxelles (l'atelier des Ghémar se situait rue de l'Écuyer). Nous avons : (1). Programme de la fête, bifolio in-f° (plis, pet. déch.), donnant sur un ton humoristique le déroulé de la journée (et du lendemain !) : réception de l'ambassade japonaise, accueil de sociétés drolatiques, photographie officielle du "Bocal" par les Ghémar "assistés de leur ami Nadar seul, arrivé tout exprès de Paris hier, à 2 h. 43 de relevée, en montgolfière", éclipse de soleil "invisible à l'oeil nu", liste des prix de jeux (les bretelles de Jeanne d'Arc, "un portrait 7/8me de nature, par Ghémar frères" pour les participants des courses en sacs...), le "menu du festin : ambigu" (anguilles sous roche, financier truffé, pommes d'Adam...), annonces de concours de "poésie lyrique et oignonesque", etc. Malgré "15.000 invitations déjà lancées", il est prévu que "les personnes qui ne se seront pas présentées à l'heure précise de l'ouverture pourront seules entrer plus tard". La 3e page est entièrement illustrée d'un dessin figurant une course de taureaux, la 4e p. est bl. et porte le papillon nominatif d'invitation (pour M. Cranshoff) avec cachet de la "Société des Joyeux".-- (2). Carton d'invitation, dessiné par Louis Ghémar pour la "3e et dernière pendaison de crémaillère dans la maison Ghémar rue de l'écuyer" (13 x 18 cm, déchirure centrale réparée au papier collant au verso).

Auction - Terms of sale

The purchaser shall pay, strictly cash, the hammer price, in €, together with a premium of 25 %, eventually plus the resale tax, if applicable: 4 % for hammer prices from € 2000 on, only for original art and if the author died less than 70 years ago.
The auction follows the order indicated by the catalogue. The biddings start at about 80 % of the lowest estimate and each bid must be +/? 10% higher than the previous one. In case of a dispute the lot will be called again.
The auctioneer has the right to refuse a bid, and this without further explanation.
Each buyer by making a bid acknowledges the conditions of sale and the fact that he has inspected the purchased item.
The auctioneer has the right to split a lot or join several lots.
Lots with two or more titles, series or periodicals, or lots with a mention "n.c." and 'sold w.a.f.'are not collated and cannot be returned.
Each buyer is supposed to buy for his own account and cannot claim any commission. Each bidder should inspect the lots during the exhibition. Under no circumstances can an item, once sold, be returned. For lots bought via a bidding order remarks or complaints, also concerning the authenticity of the items, should be formulated within 2 weeks after the auction. After that delay no item can be returned.
