Item Overview

Description

Frederick Shane Matted and Framed Lithograph "Colorado Landscape"
This is a 19 by 23 inch framed and matted lithograph by Frederick Shane (1906 to 1992) an associate of Thomas Hart Benton. Shane was a Regionalist focused on rural America and professor at the University of Missouri at Columbia. His early studies were in Colorado Springs and he often vacationed there. The lower right is signed "F. Shane '42" and the left is marked "15 Prints", "for Fritz & Martha", and "Colorado Landscape" all in pencil. Shane creates for the viewer a landscape with a road and farmstead in the foreground and a mountain range in the background.

Condition Report

Matte and lithograph have some slight mellowing with one age spot on the lower left. The frame is in good condition with a slit in the back to remove the lithograph. Would be a nice addition to any landscape or Regionalist collection.
