Description

sculpture, 24" high, including a 1" wooden base, unsigned (provenance and supportive information available). Son of painter Oscar Thalinger. Frederic studied at Washington University (St. Louis), Art Institute of Chicago, briefly with Grant Wood, and with Harold Nash (ceramics, University of Cincinnati). St. Louis sculptor, executed projects in soap, stone, welded metal, and sculpted clay. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Kansas City Art Institute, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, St. Louis Art Museum, Worlds Fair New York (1939), and the Illinois State Museum. His work is in the collections of the Syracuse Museum of Sculpture, Illinois State Museum, and the Francis Cabrini Housing Project (Chicago, 1962).
