Five John Henry Subjects: Birth of John Henry; John Henry Building a Rai 1936; John Henry + the Witch Woman; John Henry's Death; and John Henry's Funeral. Each signed "...Becker" in pencil l.r. and titled in pencil l.c. Wood engravings on Basingwerk Parchment with watermarks, image sizes to 6 x 4 1/2 in. (15.2 x 11.4 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Margins over 1/2 inch with some deckled edges, tear to left margin of Death.

Provenance: From the collection of WPA artist Maxwell Mandell, by descent to the current owner.

Sheet sizes to 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 in. Soiling and handling crimps on recto and verso, 3/4 in. tear in left margin of Death, u.l. corner of Witch Woman is bent.
