Portrait of the American Clipper Ship Comet. Signed and dated "F.J.H. Gardiner '73' l.l., vessel identified on bow and inscription l.c. Watercolor on paper, sight size 19 1/2 x 25 3/4 in., in a period painted and gilded molded wood frame. Condition: Very good, not examined out of frame.

Note: The Comet was built at New York in 1851, by William H. Webb for Bucklin and Crane. She weighed 1836 tons.
