Frank C. Bensing (American, 1893-1983) Portrait of Cesare Barbieri. Oil painting on artist board of inventor and philanthropist Cesare Barbieri (1878-1956). The Italian-born Barbieri held more than 100 patents, including one issued in 1926 for conical Dixie Cups and the machinery that manufactured them. The oil painting, most likely painted in the early 1950's, is signed lower left "Frank C. Bensing". The back of the artist board has an old "Garber Framing" stamp with a phone number - Rhinelander 4-0991. The painting is housed in the original leatherette frame that has leatherette loss on the top corners of the frame. The painting, protected under glass for many years, is in good condition with no damage or repair and measures 10" x 7" . The frame measures 16" x 13".
