François- Félix de Berton des Balbes, duc de CRILLON (1748-1820) lieutenant général, député de la Noblesse aux États Généraux, pair de France. 3 L.A. et 1 L.A.S., Paris et Crillon 1807-1818, au comte puis marquis de Lally-Tolendal ; 6 pages in-4 ou in-8, 3 adresses.
Paris 21 février 1807. Félicitations sur le mariage de sa fille Élisabeth (avec Henri d'Aux de Lescout) : « vous alles etre aussi heureux père que vous etes fils respectable ». Mais le projet des futurs mariés de vivre sur leurs terres et à Bordeaux fait craindre que Paris ne soit plus pour Lally « qu'un interest bien secondaire. Vous n'oublieres pas cependant qu'il renferme plusieurs personnes qui vous aiment tendrement, et j'espere bien que vous me placeres à la tete de cette liste d'élus »... Crillon 31 juillet [1817]. Ils ont perdu un excellent ami avec Jean-Baptiste Suard : « Vous aures éprouvé de la peine par la mort de Made de Staël et de la douleur par celle de Mr Suard »... Il l'entretient aussi des titres des Crillon, et de sa décision de ne pas réclamer l'ancienneté de la nomination de son père : « Je ne tournerais pas la main pour etre le premier duc plutôt que le dernier, tout cela me paraît égal. Au surplus quoique mon père eut les honneurs de duc, ce n'était que comme grand d'Espagne, et je prefere beaucoup etre duc français »... Il joint la copie des lettres de duc données par Louis XVIII (12 juillet 1817). Dimanche 25 [janvier 1818]. Il lui envoie la copie de lettres patentes confirmant son duché-pairie, « ouvrage où votre caeur et votre esprit ne sont pas étrangers »... Dimanche 3 [1818] : « si votre proposition pour le duc de Richelieu est combattue, je serai un de vos soldats. Ce ne sera pas votre parole éloquente, mais un homme de bien de plus qui n'a jamais loué que ce qui était digne de l'etre »...
On joint une proclamation imprimée (30 mai 1789) et son faire-part de décès (27 janvier 1820) ; 2 L.A.S de son fils Félix : 8 février [1820], sur la mort et l'éloge de son père, et [1830], au marquis d'Aux-Lally, après le legs par le marquis de Lally d'un portrait d'Henri IV ; plus une L.A.S. de Cuvillier relative aux lettres de pairie du duc de Crillon (1825) ; et 2 imprimés relatives au père, 1789-1820.

COLLECTION OF PURCHASES

Buyers are advised to collect successful lots as soon as possible to avoid handling and storage costs which may be incurred at their expense. S.V.V. LE BRECH & ASSOCIES is not responsible for the storage of purchased lots.

If payment is made by check or by wire transfer, lots may not be withdrawn until the payment has been cleared. From the moment the hammer falls, sold items will become the exclusive responsibility of the buyer. The buyer will be solely responsible for the insurance; S.V.V. An export license can take five or ten weeks to process, although this time may be significantly reduced depending upon how promptly the buyer supplies the necessary information to S.V.V. LE BRECH & ASSOCIES

LE BRECH & ASSOCIES to the buyer without success, the lot is re-offered for sale at the seller's request, under the French procedure known as "procédure de folle enchère"(crazy bid). If the seller does not make this request within two months from the date of the sale, the sale will be automatically cancelled, without prejudice to any damages owed by the defaulting buyer».

FAILING RECEIPT OF PAYMENT

If the buyer fails to pay the hammer price and fees, a formal notice will be sent to him buyer by certified mail with acknowledgement of receipt.

Unless payment is received within 10 days following the reception of this formal notice, additional fees of 10% on the hammer price, with a minimum of €250, will be applied in order to cover the recovery expenses.

Enforcement of this stipulation does not prevent from granting financial damages and at the expense of the procedure that it would require, and does not prejudge a potential crazy bid may be carried out.
