Franco Brunatto (Zanetti), Italian b.1937- Untitled abstract composition; mixed media and oil on canvas, signed and inscribed on the reverse, 60x50cm., (unframed) Brunatto, lives and works in Bussana Vecchia an extraordinary ancient hilltop town that was destroyed by an earthquake in 1887. In the sixties a group of artists settled in the ruins and restored some of the buildings. Franco liked what he saw and has lived there ever since. He paints every day in his 'cavern' studio near the entrance to the village. Franco started his career as a figurative painter, but gradually his style has changed to informal abstraction. His work shows qualities of composition, draftsmanship and especially colour. He gives some of his work interesting textural qualities with the use of sand. He still spends his leisure time diving off the coast of Liguria to add inspiration to his paintings. Franco began exhibiting again at good galleries in Europe. Recently he exhibited at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco.
